Guilt Bites ("we", "our", "the app") is an AI-powered food tracking application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application and related services.

[1] INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Account Information:

• Email address (for authentication)
• Username (chosen by you)
• Profile data: height, weight, target weight, dietary preferences, daily calorie goal

Food & Health Data:

• Food photos you upload for AI analysis
• Food diary entries (food name, calories, macronutrients, health scores, timestamps)
• Chat messages between you and the AI companion
• Water intake logs
• Temptation resistance records

Apple Health Data (optional, with your permission):

• Step count
• Weight measurements
• Active calories burned
• Dietary energy consumed (written by the app)

Apple Health data is only accessed when you explicitly enable the integration in Settings. You can revoke access at any time through your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Guilt Bites.

Device & Usage Data:

• Device type and operating system version
• App usage patterns (for improving the service)
• Crash reports

[2] HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

• AI Food Analysis: Food photos and text descriptions are sent to our AI service (Google Gemini via OpenRouter) to estimate calories, macronutrients, and generate commentary. Images are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored by the AI provider.
• Dietary Tracking: Your food entries, calorie data, and health scores are stored to provide your food diary, calendar views, and progress tracking.
• AI Chat: Chat messages are stored to maintain conversation context and provide personalized responses based on your eating patterns.
• Weekly Reports: Your food data is aggregated weekly to generate AI-powered reports on your eating habits, trends, and recommendations.
• Personalization: Your profile data (weight goals, preferences, sarcasm level) is used to tailor AI responses to your specific situation.
• Payments: Subscription management is handled by RevenueCat and Apple's App Store. We do not directly process or store payment information.

[3] DATA STORAGE & SECURITY

• Your data is stored securely on Supabase (cloud database hosted on AWS).
• All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL.
• Database access is protected by Row Level Security (RLS) — you can only access your own data.
• Food photos are stored in a secure cloud storage bucket with per-user access controls.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

[4] AI PROCESSING

• Food analysis is performed using Google Gemini models accessed through OpenRouter.
• AI providers process your requests in real-time and do not store your data permanently.
• Your food photos and chat messages are not used to train AI models.
• AI-generated calorie estimates and health scores are approximations and should not be treated as medical advice.

[5] THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase: Database and authentication (Privacy Policy)
• OpenRouter / Google Gemini: AI food analysis and chat
• RevenueCat: Subscription management (Privacy Policy)
• Apple App Store: App distribution and payments
• Open Food Facts: Barcode product database (open-source, public data)

[6] YOUR RIGHTS

• Delete your account: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings in the app.
• Data export: You can request a copy of your data by contacting us.
• Revoke permissions: You can revoke camera, microphone, and Apple Health access at any time through your device settings.
• Opt out of notifications: You can disable all notifications in the app's Settings.

[7] DATA RETENTION

• Your data is retained as long as your account is active.
• When you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.
• Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for service improvement.

[8] CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Guilt Bites is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

[9] CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
